Flashcards for introducing fasteners include toggles, hooks and eyes, buttons and poppers, and zippers. Flashcards can be used as a Match game and also used to label examples of various clothing fasteners. See examples on images for ideas. We printed the Flashcards and laminated them, we used them as a matching game so the student matched the fastening with the type of clothing. We also printed Flashcards, laminated them and used them to start creating a sensory board for each fastening, using examples of clothing so student could practice opening & closing the fastenings. “The ability to button and manipulate clothes fasteners is an important skill for children to master to help them achieve independence with dressing. You can work resources to suit each child or group of students depending on their fine motor skills.”
